The Announcement That Changed the World

I love the joyous sounds of Christmas. Those sounds fill the airwaves, have you noticed? There are special school events, choir concerts, children singing in the malls and sacred, heart-stirring hymns of the season filling the atmosphere everywhere. It brings the Light that dispels the darkness. It is, “Radiant beams from Thy Holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace…”

The angel said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you’re to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger.”

At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God’s praise:

Glory to God in the Heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please Him. Luke 2:11-14 The Message

Today, we live in a world that needs redemption, a world that hungers for grace and love.

Today, the world needs the true Light, the only Light that can dispel the growing darkness around us.

You and I are carriers of that Light. Everywhere we go, He goes with us and His Light shines through, touching those around us. We are His visual aid that radiates with His Majesty and much like the star that pointed the way for the three kings, His Light and Life in us points the way to the Prince of Peace, our Savior, Jesus.

Two simple words…”He Came!”

These two words are at the root of all truth. These two simple words fill the atmosphere with hope and expectation. All of the needs, the hopes, the longings, the dreams, the emptiness that mankind carries in its heart, now has found fulfillment in these two words, “He came!”

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. John 1:4

He came as the Light of the world. He came with redeeming Grace, Mercy and Love to transform and restore our lives from emptiness to fullness.

He is, The true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. John 1:9

With the angelic announcement of Christ’s birth, also came the pronouncement that this Savior would make all things new. The birth of this baby was a world changing event for every living soul who would welcome Him into their hearts.

The Babe, the Life-Light, this one-of-a-kind God-expression, He came and He made all things new, including us! He brought us out of darkness and turned us into our child-of-God-selves and His Light and Life flooded our souls.

The real purpose, the real work of Christmas is to find the lost, to heal the broken, to feed the hungry, to release the prisoner, to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among the people, to restore joy, and to make music in the heart.

This is why tears rolled down my face last evening, when my voice joined the capacity filled crowd of the concert hall, as we sang together the last verse of Joy to the World…..

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorn infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as the curse is found.

I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. John 8:12

Open your heart this Christmas and receive, again, Christ, the King and all He brings!

From my heart to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
